Your Christian Self Esteem .... Start Building It Up

There are no magic formulas for how to build Christian self esteem. The process is a constant, ongoing challenge that requires soul searching and focus.

But there are things you can do that will dramatically change how you see things.

There is nothing negative about God. So doing what you can to eliminate the negative stuff in your life will go a long ways toward improving your Christian self esteem.

God has a specific plan for your life, but in order to start moving in the right direction, it's necessary to start focusing on positive things that will make you feel better about yourself.

Building Christian self esteem isn't as simple as just going to a website, reading the material, and presto....you instantly feel better about yourself and everything in your life. Unfortunately, it's a lot more complicated than that.

Here is a way to see what shape you're self esteem is in. I took this FREE self esteem test. It's really excellent. The tools are practical, real, and can make a huge difference as you're building your Christian self esteem. Here is my full review of this outstanding product. And now, back to our discussion.

Your current self esteem is the result of a gradual process that never ends. How you feel about yourself is based on what's happened in your past. Both good and bad experiences are stored in your brain. And how you felt about what happened is also stored there.

And most importantly, all the stuff you said to yourself along the way is also there. We carry on conversations with ourselves ALL THE TIME. And some of the stuff we say is not very nice, to put it mildly.

So as you perceive current events in your life, you're continually evaluating them based on your past. Unfortunately, your evaluations are only based on the truth as you believe it to be, and not necessarily on the actual truth.

Your Christian self esteem is also based on the things people said to you, and whether you accepted those things as "the truth". It comes down to the choices about who you believed. If you accepted everything from everyone as true, your self esteem may have suffered, and it may even require you to forgive some people in your life.

So, who are the people in your life that you consider to be "truthbearers"?

Building Christian self esteem means guarding your self image from those that do nothing but tear it apart and fill your mind with negative stuff. Isn't it amazing how people around you who claim to love you, seem to find pleasure in criticizing, cutting, and finding fault, all in the name of "helping you?" Some people hear so much of this stuff that they fall into depression and need a lot more help.

So....How Do You Stop all this Nonsense??

  • Make the conscious decision to not let ANYONE determine your self image except you and God. You can decide whether you accept things as truth. You can decide how to react to people and what they say. You already know that God speaks the truth, and that is something you will always be able to count on.

  • Because your thoughts determine your actions, and because you move toward what you think about, it is critical that you're thinking the right thoughts! Right thoughts lead to right actions that lead to more right thoughts and on you go!

  • All meaningful and lasting change starts on the inside and works its way out. "Trying hard" to override your current picture of who you are and "the way" you are will only result in temporary change. The only way to make a permanent change is to start programming in some right stuff. Eventually your behavior will catch up with your thoughts.
