afraid of the answer, but need to know

by Jodi
(Canada)

I'm living with my boyfriend, and though i am not as religious or devout as my best friend, i still believe in god and the right path... anyway, my boyfriend and i are planning on getting married eventual and i have been praying for a sign that he is the right one and i have only been getting negative answers (problems down there, and my first pay check hasn't gone to my bank account and i have been counting on it for medication and rent). should i not be living with him? or should i take this as a sign that God doesn't want us to be together? i love him so much and he is the nicest and most wonderful man i have been with, i just don't know what i should do.

thanks

Hey. What I have learned is that, if your boyfriend is the right one, that when two people are meant to be together, nothing can stop them. And when they aren't, nothing can keep them together. I hope this helps and I know it sounds cheesy. :)

Right is right

Hi Jodi,

Sometimes people have a tendency to read things into every normal event that happens in life.

However, it is never right to live with a boyfriend or girlfriend outside of marriage. Today it seems that living together is some sort of "next step" in a relationship. It has become the socially accepted thing to do.

But it flies directly in the face of God's Word. Jodi, when you deliberately make a decision that is outside of what God tells you to do, then you can't expect Him to bless it. You can't expect Him to bless your life until you stop the sin.

Yes, living together outside of marriage is sin. I know, it sounds like I'm judging, but the judgment about this issue was made by Christ a long time before I came on the scene.

Jodi, if you really want to know if your boyfriend is right for you, then seek God with all your heart. Open His Word and start absorbing what He thinks about how you live your life. Look what He says about your priorities.

As He deals with you about your situation, I don't think you're going to wonder what your next step should be.

Blessings,

Karen
