I've been looking for a way to earn extra income for my family, but I have to say, how do I know this isn't just another way for some company to get my money?

There are so many scams on the web, how am I supposed to know what's for real and what isn't?

I'd love to believe this could really work, but I need to see actual proof.

What kind of income can you actually earn from this?

How long does it really take to get it going?

How much time do you have to spend doing it?

These are the real questions.

 Building the right way

Hi JC,

Each of the search engines uses their own algorithm to decide which site pages to list. They use lots of different criteria, like the value of the content to the user and whether the page contains keywords that people are looking for.

Nobody knows the exact criteria, but I use a system that has a pretty good idea. As I build my pages, the system tells me if I have a good chance of getting the page listed. Then when I'm done with the page, the system sends it to the search engines for me.

Many of my pages are listed in the top 10 listings of the search engines. Consequently, much of my traffic comes from them.

 Building an actual website like this one

I can certainly understand your skepticism. I felt the exact same way when I started. Not only are there scams on the net these days, I fell into a couple of them myself so I know they're out there!

Building a web business is just like building any other business. It takes commitment and hard work. There are no shortcuts.

You can find places that offer you free web hosting or $10 web hosting, saying stuff like, "have your site up and running in 24 hours and start earning money."

I have to tell you, that's nuts. Anybody that says that sort of thing is either misleading you or has never done it themselves so they haven't got a clue about how the process works.

It does take time to build a successful web business, just like it takes time to build a business that has an actual building with bricks and mortar. The difference is that you can build your web business without all the expensive overhead IF you have the right tools.

That's exactly why I chose SBI when I finally took the plunge. There are lots of things you need to learn, do, and in many cases un-learn. Sometimes un-learning some of the stuff that absolutely doesn't work takes as long as learning what does work.

OK, now to your actual questions...

First, yes, you can earn an actual income from a web business. But having a Christian site isn't as lucrative as other kinds of sites, simply because most people don't come to this kind of site ready to buy something.

Would I trade this site? Never in a million years. It helps people from all over the world. I love it. But it doesn't earn as much as other sites with different topics that are the same size as this site.

The key is to choose a topic that lends itself to generating income. SBI takes you through a thorough evaluation about what topics will generate income.

OK, your second question about how long it takes. This site has been around since early 2006. It took about a year for it to really take hold. That's because I made mistakes that hindered the growth of the site. I didn't follow the learning process as closely as I should have. And it delayed my progress.

I know of LOTS of other SBI'ers who saw amazing results within a couple of months.

How much time you have to put into the process? It depends on how much time you're willing to commit to it.

If you spend an hour a day, it's going to take you a LOT longer than somebody that spends 10 hours a day. It's that simple and it's that complicated. The more time you put into it, the quicker you'll see results.
