So you're married and your Christian husband just isn't doing all that you think he should be doing.
He isn't leading your family spiritually.
He isn't setting the right example for your kids.
He doesn't seem to value his faith, especially in front of other people.
So now what? What's the most you can hope for? Is it what you have now?
I just finished reading a new book by Pamela Hines called, "Wife's Prayer". Pamela Hines has worked with lots of Christian women over the years. In 2003 she held a prayer service for Christian husbands. What a novel idea.
During the service she joined with lots of other Christian women simply to pray for their Christian husbands. And not just any old prayers. They literally prayed God's Word over their husbands.
There is tremendous power in prayers that come as you "pray the Word" out loud over your circumstances. God's word is always true and never returns void.
Here are a couple of prayer samples from the book. I chose the section on "My husband and our Home" because it's one that resonates for me.
"Thank You that my husband is slow to speak and swift to hear what You are saying to him concerning our marriage, our children, and our life. Give his heart the desire to teach our children to love You and Your Word. I pray he creates a desire in the hearts of our children to walk in Your ways. Keep him from those things that draw him away from You, things that produce death in families." James 1:19; Genesis 18:19; James 1:14
"Thank You that my husband keeps his life submitted to the Word of God and to prayer so he always has wisdom to lead our family. I pray he honors You for the hedge of protection You have placed around our lives." James 4:7; Job 1:10
Can you see how these kinds of prayers can make a huge difference? This book is a great addition to your other prayer materials.
