Christian Marriage Counseling...Here's a New Idea

The Five Love Languages

By Gary Chapman

Karen's Book Review

Seeking Christian marriage counseling is one of the best ways to find more effective ways to communicate and work together to improve your marriage. But there are other ways as well. That's where this book comes into play.

I first encountered "The Five Love Languages" as part of a marriage session at our church. It was featured along with a workbook and a video by Gary Chapman. The whole process took about two hours, but after it was over, both my husband and I were very glad we attended.

It certainly wasn't some sort of touchy, feely session where you're forced to talk about all the stuff that's wrong with your spouse in front of other people. Oh yeah, those work really well, especially when you get home.

This was more of an opportunity for my husband and I to answer some questions in a workbook, the results of which told us the "love language" we most preferred.

Gary Chapman is very good about explaining the different ways married people communicate, and in different languages. It is very revealing to spouses when you realize that your preferred language may not be your spouse's, and it may very well have been the cause of strife over the years. How much Christian marriage counseling would you have to attend to find this out?

The great news is that once you know and understand your spouse's preferred language, it becomes very easy to "get through" because you can speak his language.

I heartily recommend "The Five Love Languages" for any couple trying to communicate better. If you think communication is a problem in your marriage, this book can help you sort it all out.

I like CHEAP books....

Now, I'm no genius, but look at the prices on this book. You can literally pick up this book for a song. What a steal.
