Is a Christian marriage really any different than any other kind of marriage?
While it's true that all marriages go through difficult seasons, I can't think of anything so devastating as the loss of a child. How can parents cope?
"Through Every Storm" is a work of Christian fiction that tells the story of a couple who suffered the loss of their baby daughter from choking on a button from a stuffed animal. Ugh. Even the very idea of it brings shivers to my spine.
Just because you have a Christian marriage doesn't insulate you from the grief that naturally accompanies tragedy. In fact, it seems being angry at God is maybe even more heightened simply because you are a Christian and you can't believe He would allow such a horrible thing to happen.
The couple in the book grew apart.....not just a little, but so far apart that divorce seemed imminent. The author does a great job describing all the stages of grief of both the husband and wife. She shows how even tiny, mustard seed faith can take root and move mountains.
It seems so easy to get divorced in today's world. I don't think people even enter marriage anymore with "forever" in mind. If things get tough, it's just easier to bail out.
Christ certainly had a lot to say about divorce back in His day. He didn't like it. He didn't approve of it, and He certainly didn't want it to be an easy out when things got tough. So he told us to make God the center of our marriages. He told us to treat each other with the love and respect He has for us...even in the midst of tragedy.
"Through Every Storm" is a wonderfully written, inspirational story that will definitely give you hope. Even though it's fiction, the lessons are very real and very true. A great read.
