Christian praise and worship is more than just what you do on Sundays. When I read "Daily Inspiration for Finding Favor with the King", I discovered Christian praise and worship as the thing that releases God's blessings and favor on your life.
As I thought about the word favor, I went to my thesaurus to see if I could find some other terms to give me a better understanding of the word. I found three synonyms:
Can you see the benefit of God's favor on you? It's pretty hard to miss.
God measures your motive in everything you do. And it's no different in your praise and worship. If the motive is right, then the praise and worship is openly accepted by God. But if the motive is to impress the people around you or if you're just going through the motions, then everything you're calling "Christian praise and worship" becomes an exercise in futility.
I think one of the most amazing parts of this book is when the author talks about seeking the face of God rather than seeking His hand. It is so easy to seek God as a provider of good things. And there's no doubt that He is, but there is a need to go deeper.
God wants an actual relationship, one that involves spending time with Him just because you enjoy His company and want to be with Him. This book reveals that "worship is the doorway to God's heart." The author uses the story of Esther to illustrate that in order to come into God's presence, it's necessary to prepare through Christian praise and worship.
What a concept...actually loving, worshiping, and praising God because of your desire to be with Him instead of what you think He can do for you.
I was very impressed with this book and Tommey Tenny's writing style. I've read many Christian books but this is one I will read again. It was so filled with GREAT stuff I know I missed on the first time through.
This book is for anyone who wants to go deeper in their relationship with God. It's for anyone who wants to understand God better and get to know about His character. And mostly, it's for anyone who's truly interested in seeking God's face instead of His hand.
