Complaining Husband and Kids

by Kary
(Butte, Montana)

My family used to be the absolute worst at complaining. It didn't matter that there were also positive things happening. So I made a family rule that if somebody complains, they also have to say something positive about how to deal with the problem.

If they don't have something positive for that problem, they have to say something else that's positive. It's helped to make things seem a little more even.

I am sorry that we can't make this a rule with our friends and others outside of our family. lol. It might be good though if we suggested to a person that is complaining for us to find something positive to say to put our communication in balance?
