Daily Bible Scripture and Prayer...Power for Your Life

Reading daily bible scripture doesn't exactly sound like entertainment. In fact, if you've read scripture once, why would you even want to read it again? I mean...if it's not entertaining, and you already know what's in the book, what's the point?

The point is....there's power in those words. There's strength in those words. AND mostly, the answer to every question is in those words. What a book, huh?

Many years ago I decided to read through the Bible from cover to cover. I read a little each day, but honestly, I couldn't see what all the fuss was about. I mean, it was OK, but I just couldn't see how reading daily bible scripture was going to change anything...least of all, me.

It wasn't until I exhausted myself trying to control everything in my life my own way that I realized that maybe there was something I was missing. I mean, there had to be more to life than that.

Isn't it funny how sometimes the light doesn't go on until you've come to the end of yourself? Can't you just see God sitting back, waiting to hear those magic words from you? "I give up. I've done all I can do, God. HELP." I truly believe God just smiles and says, "FINALLY!"

Of course, when you come to this point, your attitude is completely different. Now when you pick up the book and you start reading scripture, you're in the right frame of mind and you're eager to hear from God and talk to God and you're probably even willing to give prayer a try. What a concept.

Most of us wouldn't dream of starving our physical bodies. Then why would you starve your soul? Filling up with God's word through daily bible scripture and prayer is feeding your soul. When your soul is starved long enough, the hunger gets so strong you feel like you can't do anything else but feed it. And hopefully you don't have to go through a tragedy to make you realize just how starved your soul has become.

If you have any hope of overcoming the storms in your life, then keeping your soul fed through daily bible scripture reading and prayer has to be a top priority. It's when you stay "prayed up" that you see God taking care of things and moving in your life so you don't have to DO IT ALL BY YOURSELF.

So where do you start? How do you start? I love using a product called, "Becoming God's Masterpiece".

I love it because it covers all the bases, yet it's EASY to follow. The workbook is wonderfully personal and real. The prayer journal causes you to really focus on what really is in your heart. AND, the scripture meditation cards are absolutely GREAT to keep your mind filled up with GREAT stuff.

Here are some other GREAT resources that I've found to be very helpful in keeping your soul fed...

I am very impressed by this bible because it not only contains daily bible scripture, but other helpful sections like:

"Let's talk", asking pertinent questions, giving answers, and explaining how to apply it in your life.

"Character building", explaining the deeper meanings to scripture.

"Family Matters", provides real life family examples of of how to apply scriptures.

Everything Joyce Meyer writes is very well done. Her real life examples and experiences make the Word real and very applicable to your life. Joyce speaks from many years of experience and she has a gift to make the Word clear to everyday, average folk like you and me. A great resource.
