Divorce

by Karen
(Southern Ca.)

Both my husband and myself are born again christians, have been for over 30 years. He is divorcing me and is with another woman..his old high school sweetheart. We have been married 40 years. It seems no matter how hard I have prayed nothing is any different if anything he is getting deeper and deeper involved with her. We are both 62 years old. My heart is broken! Any help with this I would appreciate or any books I can read regarding this..Thanks Karen

Not an easy road
by: Karen

Hi Karen,

I sure wish I had the magic answers for you and for every other Christian woman who tells me they are going through this. I hear more about troubled marriages than any other topic.

Karen, there is nothing easy about the road you're facing. Yes, we believe in a God who does amazing miracles. And Yes, we believe that He can change your situation in the blink of an eye.

But whether God chooses to intervene in your situation is solely and completely up to Him. Sometimes He chooses to let these situations play out completely. But that doesn't mean He loves you any less or that He isn't right there with you.

The Word says He can take what the enemy means for harm and turn it into something good. That's what we need to hold on to. The hope that God has a plan that is so much better than we can ever hope or imagine.

Karen, hang in there. Keep on praying. Get to know God better than you ever have before.

There are some WONDERFUL books on this site: Inspirational Christian books.

I loved every one of them. "Facing your Giants" made a huge impression with me. You might also consider renting or buying the movie DVD, "Facing the Giants." I've seen it several times and I still get tears from it. It is so incredibly inspirational when it shows how great God truly is, that I am overcome every time I see it.

Surround yourself with positive, upbeat people. Don't spend time with those who want to continually bash your marriage and your husband. It won't do you one bit of good.

And mostly, find a Christian counselor who will help you sort it all out. Ask your pastor for a good referral so you can discuss your options about moving forward with your life.

Many blessings,

Karen
