Always follow the Word
by: Karen

Hi Evelyn,

I can surely understand how people today can be led astray. There are so many versions of truth and so much hype and production surrounding everything these days, that it becomes a real challenge to know the real truth. Not to mention to keep your children and family on the right path as well.

God's Word is always the barometer about whether truth is being told. And I'm not referring to only one passage. Sometimes one passage of Scripture can be taken completely out of context and twisted to mean something totally different than it's intent.

The best way to know the truth is to ground yourself in God's Word...ALL of God's word. Get to know Him and His character. Get to know how He responds and how He treats people and situations. The more you fill up with His ways and His teaching, the easier it becomes to recognize false teaching.

Now, that's not to say there aren't different doctrines of belief out there. There are plenty of different beliefs. But as a Christian, your main focus needs to be on doing the basic things Christ teaches. Love God with all your heart and treat others decently and with love. Find ways to be a blessing. Look for opportunities to make a difference.

When you make these things the focus of your life, it is much easier to recognize false prophets when they come along.

Be blessed,

Karen
