Can You Feel Fear and Do It Anyway?

Facing Your Giants

by Max Lucado

Karen's Book Review

Who says, "You can feel fear and do it anyway"? Is that what they do? Are they saying that because they've actually done it? Or is it just something easy to say but REALLY tough to do?

I suspect it's the latter. After all, everyone faces fear, or more specifically really BIG giants.

I just finished a wonderful book called, "Facing Your Giants" by Max Lucado. This book is the story of David. What a guy. If ever there was a classic example of how to feel fear and do it inspite of the fear.....

Max Lucado has an incredible writing style. I loved his humor and his way of talking about David's issues using today's slang and examples. He turned David into a very human, very real person. David is the guy in the Bible that slays the Philistine. Talk about somebody who could "feel fear and do it anyway..."
What a great example of staying focused. The author points out the words that come out of David's mouth when he's faced with not just a problem, but this huge, all-consuming, overwhelming giant....

David gives absolutely no credence to the giant. He enters the picture talking about God. "David asked the men standing near him, 'What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?'"

Max Lucado puts it all in perspective when he says:

Focus on Giants--You Stumble.

Focus on God--Your Giants Tumble.

Wow, to be that focused and able to see God for what He truly is. Can you imagine what it would be like to face your own problems with that attitude?

This book is a great read. It will give you hope, help, and hopefully the start to a change in attitude toward the problems in your life. And I believe the next time you find yourself facing a HUGE giant, it will be a little easier to feel fear and do it anyway.

And make sure you take the time to go through the study guide at the end of the book. It gives you a GREAT view of the key points in the book.

I like CHEAP books....

On the net, Amazon has some amazing prices. Take a look at these. Some of them are less than half of what you'd pay at other places.
