Does Healing Prayer Work?

When was the last time you said a healing prayer? If you're like alot of people, you figured if you just prayed the right one, that somehow it would make a difference to God.

That surely He would answer the prayer and you would be healed in a powerful way.

Yet, here you are, and you're not healed yet. Now what? Should you keep saying that same healing prayer?

I recently read a GREAT book, Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference? by Phillip Yancey. This particular author is known for his deep philosophical thinking on spiritual issues.

The book talks about the spiritual journey, and how it involves an ongoing relationship with God. While it's true that God hears all prayers, it's also true that sometimes God's answer is "No". It's not that God wants you or someone you love to suffer. Rather, God has his own purpose and timing for His answers to prayer.

The issue becomes trust. Can you trust God no matter what? Can you accept His answer, no matter what it is? It sure isn't easy sometimes, especially when you have to watch a loved one suffer. Nobody knows why some people are healed and others are made to suffer. But the Word says we can be assured that God walks right beside us through it all.
There's a story about a man who said a healing prayer for his son. The man wanted his son to be healed more than anything. And yet, the son just got sicker and sicker until he died.

The man was very angry at God. He just couldn't see how God could take His son when he had prayed and believed so completely. So he asked, "God, where were You when my son died?" And God, in His infinite wisdom, answered the man, "The same place I was when Mine died."

That's not to say we should ever stop praying for healing. God heals countless people every day. And the Word says that God is no respecter of persons....that what He does for one, He'll do for another.

So what does a healing prayer look like? Well, you're in luck. Here's a Print & Pray for you.

Dear Lord,

You can see how much I need to be healed. Your Word says that "You bore my sins in Your body on the tree, so I might die to sins and live for righteousness; and by Your wounds I am healed."

I know I need to do my part. I'm truly trying to live for righteousness. I want to be a blessing to those around me and I want to make a difference in this world. Please help me, Lord. Show me what You would have me do to move forward in Your plan for my life.

As I do Your will, Lord, please reach down Your healing hand. Please heal me from the top of my head to the soles of my feet. I just receive Your healing now, Lord.

I thank You for loving me. And I thank You for caring about me. And I sincerely thank You for healing me. I ask all things in Jesus' name.

Amen.
