A Hope and Faith Haven
by Dana Rongione
Providing a haven of hope and faith is my specialty.Saved at a young age and raised in a Christian home, I always dreamed of becoming a teacher. I studied hard and played "classroom" using my dolls and stuffed animals as students. I loved the thought of helping others. When I graduated from college my dream became a reality, and I had the opportunity to teach at the Christian elementary school I had attended. For nine years, I poured my heart and soul into teaching, but during those last two years, I found myself discontent. Suddenly, teaching had lost its joy. I felt a longing, like the Lord was redirecting my path. "But what else is there, Lord?" I asked. "This is all I know. This is all I've done. This is what I was trained for. If I don't teach, what will I do?" His answer was short, sweet, and almost audible. "Write and speak." I admit, I had always loved to write, but speaking? I literally grew nauseous anytime I had to get up in front of a group of people. Surely the Lord knew that. Why would He call me to speak? Afraid and confused, I fought His urgings, telling myself that it was impossible.
God has spent the last few years helping me to see that “with God all things are possible.” He's shown me the faith, hope, and love that only He can give. I now relish the opportunity to speak, and I wouldn't trade my writing career for any other. I believe my mission is to encourage fellow believers who grow weary in well-doing, and I strive to accomplish that goal in everything I do. Come with me as we find hope and faith in Christian relationships and everyday things. We can fight the weariness together.
