Worshipping together
by: Karen

Hi ms,

I faced this problem early in my marriage. My husband was a different denomination and it wasn't an easy time.

But it largely depends on what kind of churches you're talking about. A Jew and a Christian or a Jew and a Muslim or a Christian and a Muslim...

Those combinations would have some very major issues to deal with. When your basic beliefs are so completely different I would have to REALLY consider the consequences of marriage in that scenario. When children enter the picture it gets even more complicated.

However, if you and your husband are worshiping at different Christian churches, then there are many common beliefs.

My advice to you is to pray. Yes, pray. The Word says you have not because you ask not. Ask God to bring you together.

It may not happen in a day or a week, but keep believing God will bring you into one faith.

In the meantime, try to focus on things you can do together, like praying every day, reading the Word, or watching Christian movies. Focus on your similarities instead of your difference.

And mostly, don't nag about it. Don't bring it up or let it be a source of contention between you and your husband.

Blessings,

Karen
