Is God calling me and Is it me?

by Icy
(South Carolina)

I'm 21 years old and I have two small children. I feel like God is telling me to prepare myself for ministry. I'm the type of person that God deals with in dreams. I'll dream of current and things to come. I'll dream of peoples situations and the situations of people I don't know. I had a dream when i was 17 years old that I saw a heart a big heart going into a lake or river of water and almost was like a count down of the heart being fully emerged into the water. In between I was at a restaurant serving food. Then it went back to the heart and that was the dream. At the time i thought i was crazy. Until my others dreams started coming to pass. Now i'm 21 and i had a similar dream where i was at my grandmothers house and she kept throwing hints at me to serve her something to eat and in the dream I was not getting the message. so she yelled at me go and get me something to eat!! now i feel a pull at my heart that i should be preparing myself. the more i pray and study there are some people telling me God didn't call you i need to slow down. and my husband telling me i fully support you. after reading this what do you think?

Believer

Hello Icy, The first thing that came to my mind when I read this was a "Prophetess". Visions and dreams came to the Bible prophets. Pray and listen for that soft gentle voice that enters your mind at the blink of an eye. Prayer is a conversation with God. A conversation needs to be a two way diologue. When you spek to another person and then they respond. You don't talk to someone and then have them ignore you. That is rude. It's no different with God. Speak and wait for a response. {And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.}Joel 2:28

A heart and water...
In the Bible, the heart often represents the will of a person or of an entire nation. Water represents truth...Perhaps God is calling on you to be an "End Time prophet". Peace and God Bless you.

Wait for clarity

I know I'm late answering this, but if you're still reading...Take your time. Read the bible and pray on it...Don't jump to any conclusions because if its not synonomous with what God want's for you you will be left in a bigger state of confusion. Wanting to serve God is excellent, but don't get so caught up in trying to serve that you miss the real calling...Things fall into place when you answer the right call. God will lead you to the correct places, when he is ready so stay reading and prayerful and you'll hear him, clearly...When you go in your own direction, you'll only hit a major bump in the road.

God's timing

Take each day at a time, God will guide your path. The hardest thing to do is let God direct you and not to try to do it yourself. Trust Him and everything will be okay.

Worrying too much

Icy,

Just because you enrolled in a school doesn't mean anything yet. Doing one thing isn't an indicator of whether "things are falling in place".

The best thing you can do is to read about the people in the Bible who followed God over a long period of time. Look at Abraham or David. They devoted years and years to God before things "fell into place."

One single step is only that. Just a single step. You need to spend time with God in prayer every day so you get to know His voice and how it feels to be led by the Spirit. You need to get used to a feeling of peace that will let you know when you're moving in the right direction.

Icy, talk to your pastor or another experienced Christian. Do you remember when I said you have to get really great at actually being a Christian? That's where you start.

Being in ministry won't work out for you if you're not spending time with God and getting to know Him and His character. You can go through the motions but your focus needs to be on first things first.

Be blessed,

Karen

Wondering
by: Icy

I'm just not sure. Sometimes i feel okay yes I can do this and I start reading and studying. Then there are times I feel like It's such a big responsibly that I might not be right for the job.

Me again... I was reading your site and decided to ask how do you know things are falling into place? I took a step forward. I registered at a ministry school and things are all set for me to start in june. I would think that means things are falling into place but on the other hand I'm being put in situations that make me feel i'm not ready. For example, feeling embrassed or as if people are watching me to make sure i'm perfect. Another would be having small debates over beliefs or my biggest issue not always being able to control my temper.

I'm really trying to make sure that's where i should be before I complete my school transfer and start. would you say things fell into place or not?

God's voice

Hi Icy,

Wondering what God has in mind for you is a very common thing. I think everybody wonders about this from time to time. When you consider any kind of life decision or direction, you can't help but wonder if it's right for you, and of course, Christians want very much to do what God says.

In my experience, the best way to find out is to take a step of faith. Get involved with ministry at your church. Start small and see how things go. Do doors start opening? Or do doors seem to slam shut? That is a good clue about what you're doing.

God opens doors that only He can open and closes doors that only He can close. If you're called to be in ministry, God's anointing will be on what you're doing.

Your ministry may be just being a good example to your family and friends. Or it may be that He wants you to be the best nursery volunteer or soup kitchen helper or some other ministry.

Icy, the other thing about being in ministry is that you need to work with God to get really great at being a Christian. Perhaps there are areas in your life that need to change first. Perhaps God simply wants you to submit some things to Him that you haven't been willing to submit.

While it's true that God uses all kinds of people in all kinds of tasks, it's also true that He's most likely to use those who are willing to let Him change them, even if it's difficult.

Keep praying and take a step of faith. God will meet you where you are and show you what He has in mind.

Be blessed,

Karen

God calling you
by: Anonymous

I think you need to listen to what you believe God is telling you, it's so funny because I am going through the same thing. I have been waiting for a sign from God confirming that this is what He wants me to do.
Like you, I have some pretty amazing dreams and things have come to pass.

I have actually seen Jesus, or maybe it was an angel, but I like to think it was Jesus, last year and I keep wondering why. Now at the time we were going through some tough decisions and after that morning I saw him, which was the place I went every morning to talk to God, everything in our lives just fell into place.

I think you already know that this is what you are to do...it's something that no one can tell you, but if it is what God wants He will lay it upon your heart.

I should probly listen to my own advice, but like you, I'm a bit unsure...I don't want to do anything unless it is God's will for me. So I understand what you're going through.

I want soooo bad to serve God, that I'm not sure if it's my own desire or His.

I'll pray for you...and maybe you can pray for me?

God bless
Rhonda
