Lindsi Rose

Lindsi was born February 23, 2007 at 23 weeks. She was 1 lb 4 oz, and 12 inches long. I was brought to a hospital by ambulance where they weren't equipped for premature births. The Dr told my husband and I that there was no hope for Lindsi, and that 23 week babies just don't survive.
My husband, bless his heart, told him to get a helicopter and send her to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, where they know how to take care of preemies.
They did all they could to keep Lindsi going while we waited for the helicopter. It seemed like hours before they arrived.
Lindsi made it too Children's Hospital and that's where our Roller Coaster ride took place for 3 months.
Lindsi had her first surgery when she was a few weeks old. She had a PDA ligation that they closed. Then she had another surgery about 1 month later, and after that she had a grade 3 brain bleed. They put a reservoir in the right side of her head.
Lindsi went downhill for awhile and was put on the oscillator the (machine that haunted us in the NICU). We almost lost her when she was on that.
We had her Baptized because we didn't know what was going to happen.
Then came the brighter days when she improved. She came off the respirator and was gaining weight daily. She was finally moved to the ICC where she spent 4 weeks.
We finally got the news that we could bring our little angel home. She did come home on oxygen and an Apnea monitor but is now off both. She is getting big and doing so good.
We are thankful everyday for Lindsi. The one thing I didn't mention earlier is she was born the day before a big snow storm. If she would have been born the next day, the helicopter wouldn't have been able to come. So that made us realize everything happens for a reason. I hope Lindsi's story gives someone else hope.
