loneliness

by anonymous

Lately I have started to feel lonely and depressed. I guess I don't have many friends. I have always made my children my life and used food to comfort myself. I have since become diabetic and have been forced to give up food as my best friend. I find myself becoming extremely jealous of my husband talking about his friends and going out with them, etc. I have always had self-esteem issues and feel worthless not having a "best friend". My children will always be my priority, but I'm feeling sad about the situation. How do you have healthy self-esteem without being validated by friends? I hope this makes sense!!

Thank you.

Building your self esteem
by: Karen

It is never easy to face your own self esteem issues. Everything in your past has contributed to where you are today and most people feel it's easier just to bury it all and just move on.

Unfortunately, that only leads to more stuff being piled on to already complicated issues.

SOOO, I'm going to give you a couple of suggestions. First, read the pages on this site that deal with building self esteem. Here they are:

How to Gain Self Esteem

Steps in Building Self Esteem

AND, here is a FREE self esteem test that will help you identify where you're struggling and what to do about it.

Self esteem is a pretty complicated thing. It's not easy to just make a decision that you're going to stop your negative behavior just because you're aware of it. Rather, it takes prayer, God's Word, and a deliberate programming inside so you can make the changes you want on the inside first. Then they will eventually catch up with your behavior.

All the best,

Karen
