A Miracle Prayer...Who Says You Don't Know One?
Is there such a thing as an unanswered prayer? If you were to take an honest look at all the prayers you've ever prayed, how many do you think are unanswered?
Everybody can use a miracle prayer at one time or another.
Take a look at every professional sports team. You think they don't know about miracle prayers? Of course, I keep hoping the ones I say for the Washington Redskins come to pass...but alas, that's a story for another page.
How do you know if your prayers can produce a miracle? Are you saying the right stuff? Is it in the right order? Where do you even start?
Webster says a miracle is:
1 : an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs
2 : an extremely outstanding or unusual event, thing, or accomplishment
The second definition seems to imply all kinds of things. I would consider it a miracle if my son decided to clean his room more than once every century. There is absolutely no doubt that it would be extremely outstanding and highly unusual. OK, so maybe it's not a miracle, but, based on my son's track record, it would sure feel like one.
What About Me? People don't receive miracles because they deserve them more than anyone else. In fact, many times a desperation miracle prayer is uttered right before a miracle, and that's the only thing that's required. You often hear stories of people in accidents who miraculously walk away unscathed. Is that a miracle? It certainly is to the people who walked away.
When Jesus did miracles while on earth, He always responded to those with faith. In fact, many times he pointed out those with tremendous faith. At other times He was happy to see even faith the size of a mustard seed. As long as He had something to work with, Jesus was willing. Do you suppose there's a message in there?
Every prayer is a miracle prayer. Based on the definition above, a miracle is anything that is extraordinary and clearly an act of God. When you truly think about what that means, you will see miracles all around you. Just start with the fact that God is willing to talk to you whenever you choose.....the creator of the universe is interested in you and your life.
Tear Down the Wall! Of course, there are some things that can hinder your miracle prayer. And you certainly want to make sure you don't have any barriers in your way. Here are some things to check:
- Do you have any (unforgiveness, bitterness, or resentment against anyone?
Leaving unresolved issues like these in your life is the same as building a huge, brick wall between you and God. The only way to break it down is to face all that stuff head on and make it right. It ain't easy, but it's necessary.
- Are you willing to let God be a part of everything going on in your life? Or are you trying to keep God focused only in the area where you happen to need some help at the moment? Then once the crisis is over, it's back to business as usual. Unfortunately, if that's your plan, you may be setting yourself up for failure. God's willing to work with you, but He's not a giant Santa Claus that accepts your wish list and then you simply expect Him to fill it.
- When was the last time you made an effort to live as a Christian? There are all those pesky things like being a blessing everywhere you go, helping those that need help, being a great example for your kids, etc. that are pretty much required if you ever expect to move forward with God.
Does that mean you have to pay a price to get God's help? Not necessarily, sometimes God reaches into situations by uttering the simplest of prayers. But when He does that, it's because it's a part of His purpose and plan. And I can guarantee that a part of that purpose and plan for you is doing all the stuff that all Christians need to do.
While it's true that any prayer can be a miracle prayer, it's also true that every miracle is a part of God's plan. The miracles God performs in your life depends on you, your faith, and your commitment to Him.
Print and Pray
Heavenly Father,
You are a God of miracles. There is nothing too hard for You. Father, I thank You for caring enough about me to answer my prayers.
Lord, there are things in my life that are a mess. I've tried everything to make it all turn out right but I need Your help. I need a miracle.
Father, please show me if I've got any bitterness or resentment in my heart toward anyone. Show me if I've somehow put up a wall between You and me.
Thank You for helping me, Lord. Thank You for loving me and meeting all my needs. I know You'll do what's best for me. I receive Your help with an open heart. I pray all things in Jesus name. AMEN!
