My Testimony

At the age of eighteen I met a man who had just gotten out of prison. He had gotten in trouble with the law when he was sixteen and spent the next five years behind bars. I met him three years after he had gotten out( being the caretaker I was I was going to fix him and make him happy so I thought) and we got married, but we were both very immature and had difficult childhoods.
But our marriage only lasted 3 years. We had three boys by this time, but family responsibilities were too much for him so we broke up and I was a single parent for the next five years. I could not let go of that relationship and waited for him to come back home.
One day he called and said he wanted to try again (thinking we both grew up and it would work this time) so we did and I was the happiest person in the world.
But he was very unstable, trying to find and hold down a job was very difficult.
Then around the age of forty he started partying and hanging out with friends who were much younger then he was and our relationship broke down again.
By this time we had another son, so I was a single parent again from then until the present time, which is a time span of twenty nine years now.
The year my fourth son was born (1978), and the year we broke up again, I found the Lord. That's where I found the strength to get through those very difficult years with three preteens and an infant.
The Lord blessed us through those years and my boys all did pretty very well with their lives and I am very proud of them because it was not an easy time for them and I call them my heroes for having survived their childhood.
We owe it all to Jesus. I will always love Him and thank Him for what He has done for my family.
