My Testimony

by Candy Graves
(Ch'town PE, Canada)

At the age of eighteen I met a man who had just gotten out of prison. He had gotten in trouble with the law when he was sixteen and spent the next five years behind bars. I met him three years after he had gotten out( being the caretaker I was I was going to fix him and make him happy so I thought) and we got married, but we were both very immature and had difficult childhoods.

But our marriage only lasted 3 years. We had three boys by this time, but family responsibilities were too much for him so we broke up and I was a single parent for the next five years. I could not let go of that relationship and waited for him to come back home.

One day he called and said he wanted to try again (thinking we both grew up and it would work this time) so we did and I was the happiest person in the world.

But he was very unstable, trying to find and hold down a job was very difficult.

Then around the age of forty he started partying and hanging out with friends who were much younger then he was and our relationship broke down again.

By this time we had another son, so I was a single parent again from then until the present time, which is a time span of twenty nine years now.

The year my fourth son was born (1978), and the year we broke up again, I found the Lord. That's where I found the strength to get through those very difficult years with three preteens and an infant.

The Lord blessed us through those years and my boys all did pretty very well with their lives and I am very proud of them because it was not an easy time for them and I call them my heroes for having survived their childhood.

We owe it all to Jesus. I will always love Him and thank Him for what He has done for my family.

Great Mother
by: Jack

For anyone who reads this, I'm Jack her oldest son. Some people would consider this a sad story before my mother found Jesus.

What people don't understand is the events in our lives that lead us to Him or away.

If my parents had a so called "perfect marriage", who knows what kind of faith my mother would have had. It's seems a shame for people to have to have a catastrophic event happen to them to turn them to Jesus. But it really doesn't matter as long as the end results are the same.

My mother sometimes feels guilty for the kind of childhood we had growing up. I feel blessed for it, because it helped shape me and my brothers to be good, respectful and spiritual people. I'm forever grateful that our mother did not abandon us when it seemed so easy for our father to do. I love you Mom!

It takes a survivor to know a survivor!
by: JUDY MACLEAN

I am a friend of Candy and have known her all of my life, her story is true. I personally, have witnessed some of her trials.

I knew she was a strong person, but now I know where her strength came from.I too had difficulties growing up and had many personal challenges to overcome.

Living by example is the best way to teach the world about Jesus' undying love for us all.

Thanks, Candy, for sharing. Your friend in Jesus,

Judy

FORGIVENESS IS WHAT HE WANTS US TO SHARE. AFTER ALL, HE FORGAVE THOSE WHO CRUCIFIED HIM. IN HIM YOU WILL FIND STRENGTH AND HOPE.
