An Online Bible Study ... The Right Tool for the JourneyFinding an online bible study is a great way to start getting to know God. There is no way for any human being to ever know God completely, but when you take the time to study His character and His ways, you're going to find some awesome truths that will help you build your life. The bible isn't just a history book and it certainly isn't a book about "religion". Instead, it is literally God's love letter to you. It talks about how much God loves you. And just wait until you see the HUNDREDS of promises that God spells out for you.
God really does want a relationship with you. Just think. The Creator of the universe wants to spend time with you. The Mighty God cares what happens to you and wants to know about every single thing that's happening in your life. And the bible is His way of sending you messages. He uses the parables, the story of His son, and he uses all the heroes in the bible that were human, just like you and me. It's comforting to know God uses flawed people in His plan. And if all those heroes were flawed, maybe he can use you and me too? The best way to find out is to open the book and start reading. You can literally sit at the feet of all those heroes as they tell you their stories. You'll learn how to draw near to God, how to stand strong in the middle of a crisis, and how to bounce back from setbacks in life. I'm all for making things as easy as possible. When I can find GREAT online ways of learning, that's for me! So I like using an online Bible study product. 
One of our columnists, Ameerah Lewis, has developed a wonderful online bible study called, "Becoming God's Masterpiece". Is that a title that says it all or what? I like that the product is broke down into three separate, but equally important parts. 1. The bible study workbook is simple, easy to read, and lets you progress at your own pace. Although it suggests a 10 week period, some people might find they need more time to really let all the GREAT stuff soak in. The workbook first takes you through a process to really get to know God and who He is. Perhaps for the first time you'll really understand just how great God is. Ameerah did a wonderful job describing God's character in this section. 
I have to gently warn you about the second part of the workbook. You may face some painful truths in this section. Ameerah gently helps you focus on all the people you need to forgive in your life. AND, she helps you face the many sins that have created a huge wall between you and God. But you'll feel pretty great when you finish the process, that's for sure!2. The prayer journal lets you record your feelings, desires, pain, and anything else God puts on your heart as you go through this process. 3. The scripture meditation cards are really great. One of the main themes you'll see all over this site is that your thoughts control your actions. The meditation cards are a GREAT way to keep the right stuff in front of you all the time. When you fill up with the right stuff, there's no room for the negative stuff to creep in. I liked "Becoming God's Masterpiece" very much. I think everybody needs to start somewhere. An online bible study like this one gives you the tools and the space to make progress. At least you're getting started!
