Overcoming Jealousy...You Have to Start Somewhere

Overcoming Jealousy starts with discovering its causes in your life. Understanding that God has a unique and very special plan for your life can ease the feeling that you somehow have been left out of all the world has to give.

The truth is........sometimes God needs You for a very special purpose and in order for you to get there, it's necessary for you to get past all the negative stuff that's holding you back and overcoming jealousy is a great place to start.

Perhaps God knows if He gives you all that you want and see others have, it will keep holding you back and you'll never discover what God truly has in mind for you.....and only you.

It all comes down to trust. Overcoming jealousy happens when you begin to trust God that His plan for you is more important than all the things you see and want. What a concept.....looking beyond what you can see. Can you imagine a God that wants you to be happy MORE than you do?

It is difficult to imagine that anyone would be looking out for your best interest more than you. But as your trust builds, so does your understanding of God's character and intent. All of a sudden, His timing becomes your focus, and little by little you start to grow.......

There are lots of scriptures you can use in your prayer time to help you in overcoming jealousy. Here are just a few of them from the Amplified Bible.

Mark 8:34: And Jesus called (to Him) the throng with His disciples and said to them, If anyone intends to come after Me, let him deny himself (forget, ignore, disown, and lose sight of himself and his own interests) and take up his cross, and (joining me as a disciple and siding with My party) follow with Me (continually, cleaving steadfastly to Me.)

I Corinthians 10:24: Let no one then seek his own good and advantage and profit, but (rather) each one of the other (let him seek the welfare of his neighbor).

Isaiah 40:31: But those who wait for the Lord (who expect, look for, and hope in Him) shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up (close to God) as eagles (mount up to the sun); they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

Habakkuk 2:3: For the vision is yet for an appointed time and it hastens to the end (fulfillment); it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait (earnestly) for it because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand on its appointed day.

Here is a "Print and Pray" Prayer you can also use during your prayer time.

Print and Pray

Lord,

I just come before You with thanks in my heart. Thank you for letting me bring all the stuff that's in my heart. You are an awesome, amazing God that You would take the time to Help me.
Lord, you see the jealousy in my heart. I don't want to be jealous. I don't want all the negative feelings I'm having to influence my life. Help me Lord. Show me Your plan for my life. Show me what You want me to do. I know You have a great plan for me, and I want to move forward in it. Open my eyes to You so I can know it's You, and that it's what You want for me.

Help me focus on being a blessing to others, especially those who are close to me. I know this will plant great seeds that will produce a harvest in my life.

Thank You Lord, for helping me. I receive Your help and guidance. As I move forward, I just thank You for all you're doing in my life.

I ask all things in Jesus' name.

AMEN!
