I'm Overcoming Worry ... I think

The key to overcoming worry...can you imagine what THAT would be worth?

If you were to add up all the minutes, hours, days, and even weeks you've spent worrying in your life, what do you suppose the total would be? If, instead of worry, what do you suppose would've happened if you would've spent every one of those minutes in prayer? What a concept, huh?

Speaking from MANY years of experience worrying, I can honestly say it's one of the worst habits you can ever have. And it certainly isn't an easy habit to break, especially when what you're worrying about involves one of your kids or your spouse. It almost seems that if you don't worry, that you're somehow uncaring or something. What's that about?

Worry....anxiety....stress....they're all related and there isn't one positive aspect to any of them.

In fact, the exact opposite of all these things is trust.....hope.....faith. And not just faith in your kids or spouse, but faith that God will make all things turn out for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Overcoming Worry ... Start Now

  • Spend time with God on a regular basis. Filling your head with positive, life-giving, great stuff will go a long way toward replacing all the negative stuff that just seems to show up naturally. There is nothing negative about God, so every minute spent with Him is another positive minute.

  • Believe that what God's Word says is true. God says He will take care of you, your spouse, and your kids, and there is nothing you can do by worrying that will alter God's promise. Worrying that it isn't true or might not be true doesn't change anything. The worrying just makes you completely nuts.

  • PRAY alot. As you develop the habit of praying about everything, it gets easier and easier to trust God because you'll see answers to your prayers on a regular basis. Prayer is God's currency to work in your life. When you pray, you fling open the door so God can work.
