saving my marriage from divorce

by Dierdre
(Texas)

I see there are two books available, one Save the Marriage and the other Save My Christian Marriage. If my husband is not really a Godly person, which material would be correct for me. I am of Christian faith; however, I had not been following the Lords commands for a couple of years now. As far as I know, there is not another women involved just that we have struggled the last few years and now he says he is done, he wants out. I would love to read your material; however, I would like to know which is best in my situation.

Response to "saving my marriage from divorce"

Dierdre, the books have much of the same information. In your case, either would apply. I wrote Save The Marriage first, aimed at a general audience, but it is clearly aimed at saving marriages.

When I wrote Save Your Christian Marriage, I put in the reasons why a Christian marriage is different, and why it is important to save your marriage from a Christian perspective. More than that, I help you to use your faith to do so. This is most effective when both people are wanting to live a faith-based life.

In fact, when the other person is not interested in saving a marriage, I actually suggest you NOT share the material at first. That can cause a spouse to become even more definite and defiant. They often see this as an attempt to get them to change to save the marriage.

So, I suggest using the material to change yourself and your marriage. Then, when your spouse asks about the changes, share only the Core Knowledge piece, not the rest.

Short answer: either will help you. If you get one and change your mind about wanting the other, just let me know. The important thing is to take action! Marriages in trouble are not static and are usually headed downhill without intervention on your part.
