Scripture on Forgiveness........Just the Start

Where does it say that reading scripture on forgiveness will make all the pain go away? Where is the magic answer? I want forgiveness to be as easy as taking a pill or watching a TV program. Once it's done, I want to feel better and mostly, I just want to get on with my life.

I truly wish just reading scripture on forgiveness would be that magic answer. But the truth is, unless you're willing to make the decision to forgive, despite the fact that your feelings are tying you up in knots at the very thought of it, you'll never be able to move forward with any peace.

Reading scripture on forgiveness is ALWAYS the place to start whenever you're learning to forgive.

Mark 11:25-26 And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father, Who is in heaven, may also forgive you your (own) failings and shortcomings and let them drop.

But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your failings and shortcomings.

Ephesians 4:32 And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another (readily and freely) as God in Christ forgave you.

Colossians 3:13 Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has (freely) forgiven you, so must you also forgive.

(All text is from the Amplified Bible.)

Nowhere in any of this scripture on forgiveness does it say it is simple, easy, or that you will WANT to forgive. And it also doesn't tell you how to forgive. But once you decide that having peace in your life is more important than bitterness, resentment, and pain, you can finally move forward.

In my new book, A Change of Heart, you'll find a lot more about how important forgiveness or a lack thereof, becomes, in trying to make changes in your life.

OK, here is a GREAT book to help you start this process. It's a FREEBIE! Why Forgive? by Johann Arnold. I know you'll like this one. It's very well done.
