seek and you shall find and ask and it will be given to you

by carla
(kansas city mo)

i have read this over and over again . i have thought about this over and over again. I must disagree with this . I have asked and looked for work , nursing career and a way to adequately provide for myself. God has not given me what i am looking and asking for at all. He has given me mainly what i don't want.

Sadly, God is closing doors on me. If He wants me to understand Him . He needs to be clear. I'm not going to understand anyone who isn't straight forward in prayer. He wants a relationship with me ... then He needs to be clear. The bible is not entirely adequate form of communication on everything.

The Real Answers
by: Karen

Hi Carla,

I can certainly understand your frustration. We live in a "real world". We need to put food on our tables and a roof over our heads. And when these basic needs aren't met, it is very difficult for somebody else to just come along and say, "just read the Bible and you'll be fine".

Carla, while it's impossible for me to tell you exactly why things aren't working out in your life because I don't know all the details, I can tell you that the problem is about much more than finding a job.

So many people blame God when things don't go their way. They automatically assume that if they ask they should receive and it should be as simple as that. They think that if something is going on in their lives they should be able to open the Bible, pick out a verse, and it should immediately and completely come true in their lives.

Ummmm....Carla....what does your complete relationship with God look like? Are you a saved Christian? Are you in a real relationship with Him where you're seeking Him with your whole heart? In other words, are you seeking His face rather than His hand?

If you want the promises in God's Word to work in your life they will work....but only if you are also meeting your end of the deal. Spending time with God, being a blessing everywhere you go, allowing God to make changes on the inside of you so you can become more like Him...

Those are just a few of the things that need to happen when you're a true, blue Christian. And when you're doing all you can do to build that ongoing relationship, then trust enters the picture. As you grow progressively, God will give you trust tests.

Do you really trust Him or do you only go to Him when you need or want something?

Carla, I'm not saying this is the case with you, but it is something to consider deep in your heart. You can turn this around, but it starts by really seeking God with your whole heart.

Blessings,

Karen
