Trust Training

by Mark Strouse
(Chula Vista, CA)

Hello,
I am an Associate Pastor in Southern California. I received a copy of Trust Training by Dionne Carpenter. It is a Women's Bible Study Book. It is excellent. I wish Dionne had one for men too. I use the principles from the chapter "After the Battle" on a continuous bases. I am thankful for this book and I have given a copy to my wife, mother, mother-in law, and some friends.

The Truth About Guys

This is a great book for teenage girls! I should know, being a teenage christian myself. when i picked this up i could not put it down. Chad Eastman did a remarkable job, showing us the dangers of sex before marriage, while adding humor to relieve the tension. He showed us more of how guys and did an exceptional job at that! It helped me understand so much more and showed me that i need a man that treasure me, and doesn't just think of me as a piece of meat. the Lord gave this man a gift to change young girls lives and it certainly is working! I have gaven it to my friends to read and recomend it to all girls both young and old who are struggling in the men department, or have questions about them. What do they think like? why do they act the way they do? All of your questions are addressed and its an over all amazing read.

I recommend that mothers make all of there daughters read it. I really really do! :)

It will change your life, or you daughters.

GOD BLESS!

LOST IN FAITH

by April A. Frase
(Erie, PA)

This is a beautifully written book about the mission field in Spain by English missionary wife and mother, Christine Smith. It has all the elements needed to keep you wondering why anyone would choose that life, yet knowing underneath it all that when you are in God's will it truly IS the finest place to be.
We,the Church, have been programmed through the years to see the mission field only in the context of a slide presentaion and a love offering, but this book takes you behind the scenes to see the blood, sweat and tears that builds a ministry to the lost.
The book not only shares insights into missions, but also insights to our own personal spiritual walk with the Lord.
I enjoyed it immensely and as a Pastor's wife myself have ordered several copies to share with the ladies in our church family.

Methuselah

I just finished this book and I really enjoyed it. It is the story of a woman who finds her way out of being in a rut in her life when she meets an old man named Methuselah. It is based in Old Testament teachings with emphasis on the Hebrew Alphabet. It is overall inspiring and a book I am recommending to my friends. I thought your readers might like to here about it. I am not the author.

Trust Training by Dionne Carpenter

by Pat
(Chula Vista, CA)

If you have longed for a deeper relationship with our Savior, you want to pick up the Trust Training book. I have gone through the study once with a group of women from my church and am doing it again. The information is so practical and can be life changing in your relationship with the Lord. I have definitely found that to be true as I go through my daily struggles and sometime major battles. The Lord is teaching me to come to Him first and lay out my feelings and burdens with Him. That is my first step of trusting Him to handle whatever is going on in my life and to wait for His plan to unfold. I believe you will be blessed by doing this study as I have been in the last year.

Trust Training by: Dionne Carpenter

Holding my son for the first time after his accident. This is ONE of my trust battles!

Holding my son for the first time after his accident. This is ONE of my trust battles!

Trust Training has been a blessing to me. Sometimes life does not give you lemonade and instead we face battles that can rock our lives. My son had an accident at 8 months old and we almost lost him. I have been having a hard time trying to get over this battle and get back to who I am. I got a hold of Trust Training when I was going through “After the Battle.” I wish I had read it before, so I could have faced this battle with tools. Still, this book is helping me to find a safe place to wrestle with my emotions through the Lord. I now know how to find the grace, comfort, and refuge with the Lord. Even now when I can see a battle coming, I think of it very differently then before. I know how to prepare myself and get through it the way the God would want me to. Even when simple battles, like bills or stressful situations come, I take on the battle with the Lord. People wonder why I love this book so much; they wonder why I talk about it. Have a conservation with my husband and you’ll see why. I just wanted to tell people about the book, and how it is helping me recover from a horrible accident. I am getting better and feeling stronger and I know God is guiding me through it.
I am telling you, Trust Training WILL change the way you deal with everyday battles. There are great stories inside and testimonies that you can relate to. There are bible stories inside that back up everything that is written. It is truly a blessing from God.

It Changed My Life Forever

I have been a Christian since a child. I go to church, Sunday School, participate in ministries, sang in the choir, and an usher but had a skewed view of what it really means to trust the Lord. My idea of trusting the Lord was to pretend to remain calm and pretend to be at peace when chaos was in my world and in my thoughts. I thought this is what the following verses meant, "Trust the Lord with all of your heart" or "Be still and Know that I am God". I would be still alright, strucken with fear and thinking "How could God allow this to happen to me". But after reading this book several times, I have found that each trust battle gives me an opportunity to get closer to the Lord. The battle is a trust opportunity. If I choose to actively trust each and every time, I will not only learn something new about myself and the Lord, but my relationship with Him will grow stronger. Now who does not want that? He is so kind, gentle and a comfort to those who seek Him. And believe me, when I have no one else to turn to in my trust battle, I chose to turn to Him and He is there waiting for me. How awesome is that! He is ever faithful each and everytime. He is my refuge and a safe hiding place. When I am overwhelmed, I do a breathe prayer. When I do not have the words, I do a listening prayer. Dionne Carpenter, the author, allows the Lord to use her to convey what trusting the Lord really means. And what it means to me is more than words can every express or convey! But Dionne does it well!

Thank you so much for your information on Trust Training. Will be checking this out, soon! I thank you, too, for your testimony concerning your child and what you went through. Such a testimony is so helpful and leads one closer to Christ...

The Sevens Pattern: Of the 66 books of the Bible.

by Carl
(Canada)

This is a Must Read. Sevens in the Bible are used frequently and the occurrence of seven in the Chapters and verse structures are clearly significant here. You will not believe the Clames in this Book, But its real, and this pattern in Scripture dramatically calls our attention to the idea that if the human intelligent mind cannot actually recreate a pattern of this kind, and is beyond our mental capacity, Then just maybe- This Book is proving the existence of God.

What a glorious mystery does it contain!

Carl.

Elizabeth: A Holy Land Pilgramage by Cheryl Dickow

by Lisa M. Hendey
(Fresno, CA )

Elizabeth: A Holy Land Pilgrimage is not the typical inspirational novel. Part travelogue, part history lesson, part Bible study, this book blends a wonderful story with empathetic characters.

Author Cheryl Dickow’s research and attention to detail are apparent in this smartly written tale. Dickow’s strengths lie in both character development and in educating the reader without taking on an overly dogmatic tone.

In reading this novel, I learned a tremendous amount about Jewish culture and its relevance to the roots of Christianity. The close connection I felt with several of the characters in this book, along with my admiration for the wisdom and spiritual reflections of author Cheryl Dickow, leaves me hoping that we will be treated to a sequel to Elizabeth: A Holy Land Pilgrimage.

The Scarlet Thread by Francine Rivers

I am a lover of all Francine Rivers books & decided to pop down to the library in my lunchtime to check if they have any of her books. I came across one and to my delight saw it was one I hadn't read already.

Started reading and could really associate myself with the character who is a married wife & mother. Her husband got a job in another city & it's about how she complains to her own saved mother about how he doesn't even consult with her about moving & how she loves where she lives, doesn't want to move. Her mother tells her something which is very simple (the 2nd most important commandment) LOVE. To love her husband and to put his dreams & desires before her own.

Anyways that about how far I read so far... Cant wait to get reading further, but I absolutely love as I'm sure many of you do Francine Rivers books.

I wondered what that book was about. I saw it at a bookstore last week, but I was hoping to find a used copy for less money. I can see that I will have a problem with this book. I agree that a wife must love her husband, but I don't agree that her love binds her to thoughtless disregard of her own feelings. I hope that in the rest of the book, this man comes to value his wife and her point of view. I hope that in the end, the couple learns to work together. I hope that Francine does not leave it here, because this is not marriage of two partners, it is autocracy and servitude.
