Spiritual Guidance??

I have worked at my present job for 17+ years with Excellent perfomance ratings. My new boss is making me hate going to work. I can't affort to quit, and loose my retirement. I need advice that the Bible tells us to do when someone is making our life miserable and hard and causing us sadness. When we are trapped and cannot do anything about it. Scriptures anything...
something to give me power & strength to go forward.

It has to be really tough for you to hate going to work every day. You spend a large chunk of your life working, so making it tolerable has to be a priority for you.

My favorite scripture for tough times is "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Repeat as needed.

It is difficult to know all your circumstances and why the work tension exists in the first place, so it's hard to really get specific about your situation. However, there are some other things you can do to help alleviate your stress.

You probably aren't going to like hearing some of this, but sometimes the medicine tastes awful going down but it doesn't take long before you start feeling better. :)

Being under authority is biblical. God places people in positions of authority over us. Coming under that authority is the responsibility of every Christian. I'm not talking about doing immoral or illegal things just because your boss said so, but rather, I'm talking generally about the way things work.

Start by offering your work relationship to God. Tell Him you will do whatever He tells you to do to make things better. Think about it this way, if Jesus were working in your job, what would He say to your boss? How would He treat him?

As hard as it may be, try to find ways to be a blessing in your work environment. Forget your own issues and do whatever you can to be helpful and productive. Find ways to improve efficiency or your work methods. Help your coworkers.

Mostly, be as positive as you can. Refuse to be negative. Do whatever you can to show everybody around you what it looks like to be a positive Christian role model.

And lastly and most importantly, pray every single day that God will give you the strength and wisdom to "be Christ" in your workplace. When you get "prayed up", you are armed with strength and peace before you even get to work.

Many blessings,

Karen
