Stopped the Gossip

by Helen
(Virginia)

I have a sister in law that constantly gossips. I don't think she has many positive things in her life, so she seems to live to talk about what others are doing.

It got so bad I finally told her I wouldn't continue the conversation unless she changed it to saying something good about somebody. I kept doing that until she finally got the message.

My mother in law says she thinks it's helped because even her conversations with my sister in law are better.

Helen, good job. Sometimes we have to make a stand, and bring it to the person's attention. It can become such a habit that they are not even aware that they are doing it, just like complaining can become a mind set....
God bless,
