Supposed Christians

by Kristy
(Detroit, MI)

I don't understand how some people who call themselves Christians can be so nice to your face and turn right around and say nasty things behind your back.

Aren't Christians supposed to act like it?

Here's why...

The reason why people act this way is very simple.

Thousands of years ago, there was a serpent who deceived a woman named Eve...

Divine Connections
by: Karen

Hi Kristy,

It does tend to make your blood boil when you encounter someone who is a hypocrite. Jesus had quite a bit to say about the Pharisees. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to be in their shoes! :)

Some people have heard all the "head stuff" about being a Christian. They just haven't made the connection between hearing it and letting it get down inside so it can work it's way out in the form of right behavior.

One of my favorite authors, Joyce Meyer, says, "I can sit in my garage all day but that doesn't make me a car." Well, people can call themselves "Christian" and even attend church every Sunday, but that doesn't make them Christian.

It takes some effort and time in order to make the divine connection.

But you can let them see what right behavior looks like. You can model right behavior to them. You can show them how you're peaceful in a storm and how you never compromise your standards, even a little.

And you can show them how it looks to treat people right and find ways to be a blessing. When they see how blessed you are, and how great things seem to be going in your life, they're going to want what you have. That's when they may even ask.

What a concept!

In the meantime, keep on loving them and keep on doing what's right. Every time you do, you're planting some great seeds in your life.

Blessings,

Karen

Because we are all sinners.
by: Shirley.

Yes, Kristy, people who call themselves Christian do many things that God commands us not to do. That is why we can't possibly save ourselves. We all sin, in one way or another, and some seem oblivious to the fact that they are.

But don't fret, as God hears it all, and He is the avenger of all misdeeds against us. Keep your eye on Him.

Some people are carnal Christians and have not yet surrendered to the Holy Spirit as when we are surrendered we will show the gifts of the Spirit which certainly does not include saying nasty things about others.

God bless.

Shirley.

Supposed Christians
by: thelma

Hello Kristy,

Yes, Christians are supposed to act like it. Being a Christian means having the mind and character of Christ.

When people don't act like Christ, they are either not saved, or still have too much of the world in them.

I don't say that to be judgmental, but "you will know them by their fruits", Jesus said.

These people need prayer, that they can come into a fully committed life with the Lord Jesus.

If Satan can hinder a believer into behaving in this manner, with this kind of spirit, then it brings the church a bad image.

You ask anyone on the street, and they will tell you what a Christian is supposed to walk and talk like...they know!!

So just pray for these people, Kristy....

Some people I know try to stay as close to both the world and Jesus. But it should be our goal to be as close as we can to Jesus alone. We need to be like him in manner and talk, and in where we go and what we do.

Then we will become more like him, and less like the world.

God bless,

Thelma Trunk
