Talent is Never Enough

by John Maxwell

Karen's Book Review

What a concept.....talent is never enough. I haven't had the opportunity to read any of John Maxwell's books until now. And I'm happy to report that I'm now a huge fan.

My husband and I have a son who is an aspiring, young musician. And of course, we think he has amazing talent. So as I read this book my thoughts continually turned to him. And oh, he'll definitely be encouraged to read this book when he comes home from college.

"Talent is Never Enough" is about SO much more than developing raw talent. The author promotes becoming a TALENT PLUS person. Here are the titles of the chapters from the book:

Belief lifts your talent

Passion energizes your talent

Initiative activates your talent

Focus directs your talent

Preparation positions your talent

Practice Sharpens your talent

Perseverance Sustains your talent

Courage tests your talent

Teachability expands your talent

Character protects your talent

Relationships influence your talent

Responsibility strengthens your talent

Teamwork multiplies your talent

The author takes the time to develop each concept by drawing on the life experiences of many successful people. The quotes throughout the book are really great and can even be life changing if you apply them.

AND don't neglect the exercises at the end of each chapter. They will help you apply the concepts in your own life.

When I meet a person with raw talent, my first thought is about their future and just how far they'll go in life. But according to this author, there are many people with less talent who go the farthest because they care more about character and integrity and all the other positive life traits that support that talent. It comes down to commitment to your talent. Developing it means caring enough about it to make right decisions in all the areas of your life so your talent isn't sidetracked or put on hold.

"Talent is Never Enough" is a GREAT book. AND....here is another GREAT book by John Maxwell, The Difference Maker.

So how do you get "Talent is Never Enough" CHEAP?

I love cheap books. I hate paying retail, and the internet is a great place to get "Talent is Never Enough" at less than the retail price.

Amazon has GREAT prices on books, especially this one. But if you want it, you better grab it.
