Tithe

by Lisa
(Chesapeake,VA)

We can hardly tithe the 10%, but we do it anyway. I keep expecting these blessings to come from God for obeying Him and it's as if He is totally silent.

I also continue to have Hope about certain things in my life. (A house, financial, etc)

But things only seem to get worse, not better. My hope is still there, though. Is that God or Satan trying to make me continue to get my hopes up.

Tithing
by: thelma trunk

Lisa, think of tithing, as a farmer does.

He plants the seed, but he doesn't go out and get the harvest the next day or week. It takes time for your seed to grow and multiply. Be patient and faithful.

You can never go wrong being obiedient to God's word. You have read Malachi:3 I am sure. If not read it now, but this is the only time in the bible that God says to put him to the test. Other places it says to not test God, but here he says to do the testing.

My husband and I have tithed for years, but when we started, we were really in difficult straits with 5 children. But we took $5.00 and started there, and when God increased our income we would increase our tithing, until years later, we were tithing 20%.

Just be faithful. When you tithe it will not mean that nothing will ever break down, and need repair, for the enemy wants to make you discouraged and then to stop. Don't listen to him, just keep on doing what you know to do, and God will bless you.

Remember, it takes time for the harvest to grow, but it will be there when you really need it.

People say that you can't take it with you, when you die, but you can send it on forward!!!!

God bless,

Thelma

Just do it!
by: Lynn Mosher

Lisa, I read Karen's comments and they are right on! I just have this to add...

There is one area of our lives that the enemy will never tempt us - and that is in tithing. He will never tempt us to tithe, however, he will plant the seeds of doubt. If you water those seeds with your worries and concerns, they will grow, and soon, you will stop tithing. Then, your garden of fruitful blessings will be nothing more than a patch of weeds!

Take heart, my friend, I know how you feel, but never give up your obedience to God's will to tithe.

Sow in thankfulness and reap in joy!

I pray blessings on you, Lynn

Your Christian Finances
by: Karen

Hi Lisa,

This is one of the hardest parts of being a Christian because it involves something very important in our lives.....Money.

My husband and I started tithing many years ago. At the time my husband thought I might be a little nuts, given that the idea of it seemed completely backwards based on what the world tells you.

What I can tell you from experience is that it's not a mistake to tithe. We've seen our finances grow substantially, certainly not based on some of our decisions, but based on God's faithfulness.

Now, I also have to say, there may be people out there who find mystery checks in their mailboxes after tithing. Um....no, that didn't happen to us. We kept believing, kept tithing, and tried to make good choices with our money.

When it comes to managing your money, God has a part to play, but so do you and your husband. God can work with you, but He won't stop you from buying things you can't afford, or living a champagne lifestyle on a beer budget.

There comes a time when you have to make hard choices until things really do turn around. And the people that succeed in this area are committed to doing their part so God can do His part.

And don't forget about those pesky lessons you're supposed to be learning as you go through this. Sometimes God doesn't change your circumstances until He knows you've learned the lesson from it. And He'll keep letting you take the test until you pass.

Lisa, you're always going to hear a voice telling you that tithing is nuts. I did, it was my husband's voice. :) But keep moving forward in prayer and confidence. Make right financial choices and get some outside help if you need it so you can learn money management skills.

It's not easy, but it's worth it.

Blessings,

Karen
