Why did God let woman have periods?

by Nelli
(South Africa)

I am a young woman and have struggled to accept just how God made the woman's body. Every time I have my period i feel utterly hummiliated and condemmed. I understand that Eve took the fruit and therefore all woman will have pain in childbirth, but why punish us every month? Is there anything more humiliating than leaking fluid!! I know it sounds so petty and silly, but i just struggle with the thought that woman are unclean, and that men are just fine all the time. I love God and I really don't want to question Him, but I just feel so second class to men! Why would God do that to us?

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
by: Yvonne

Hi - I just read some other woman's comments about "leaking fluid" - I have had my periods so regular ever since I became a young woman, every month absolutely on time and the one time I missed one was when I became pregnant with my only child. I just want to say that God has made us so special, easily distinguishable from men and that is why we should celebrate it!!! I thank God that I am a woman...fearfully and wonderfully made!!!

It is what it is

Hi Nellie,

In my experience, trying to figure out why God does something is an exercise in futility. God's design is perfect. He never does anything without a purpose and plan.

Yes, it's true that monthly periods are not fun by any stretch. But look at what comes from them. Life. The rewards that come from children.

And in my case, the hope of grandchildren someday. None of that is possible if a women doesn't have a monthly period.

Rather than complain, wouldn't it be better to spend your time thanking God that you can have children? Wouldn't your heart feel better focusing on what's positive about it?

After all, it's not like you can wish it away! :)

Blessings,

Karen
