Why?

by Becky
(Texas)

Hello, My name is Becky, I'm 32 years old. I have always wondered why things happen to me. I do consider myself religous I just don't go to church every Sunday. But I do pray and talk to God all the time. Well when I was 15 my mother passed away on April 12th from an aneurysm and was burried on my 16th bithday. My father remarried only 4 months after that. My stepmother hated my sister and I and my father kicked me out at 18 and sent my sister to a Christian Home for children. The next year my daughter was born on the day mother passed, April 12th. Weird huh? (Two weeks early from my due date.) My father then passed away in a car acciedent 4 years later leaving all of my mothers belongings to his wife including the house and car. My sister and were left with nothing not even a photograch. After being married (thru the church) for 6 months my husband cheated on me. I have forgiven him and we back together. It just sometimes I find myself asking, Why? I dont understand why my entire life has been nothing but hurt, pain, suffering, and I feel so "unlucky" if you will. When will it be my time to feel the opposite of all of this?

it ain't easy
by: Karen

Hi Becky,

When they said life ain't easy, they sure weren't kidding were they?

I wish there was an easy answer about why bad things happen. There isn't. I wish I could tell you why some people seem to get blessed more than others. And I wish I could tell you why some people seem to get kicked around by life more than others.

Becky, God is an awesome God who is filled with wonder and many, many unanswered questions. I think God lets us wonder because of who He is. The truth is, the God of the universe doesn't owe us the answers. And as frustrating as that is, there is also some comfort in it.

When you trust, and I'm talking about complete and total trust, you have to accept that you ARE going to have unanswered questions. When you accept that fact, there is freedom in that you don't have to worry about why you don't understand.

There are always going to be things happening in your life that aren't going to turn out the way you planned.

But it all comes down to your decision...Do I trust? Will I follow God no matter what my circumstances look like?

Becky, when you say you are basically "religious", I'm assuming you mean you have a relationship with God and that's great. But is that relationship all that it can be? Are you living your life according to God's way or are you doing whatever you want, hoping God will bless you?

Being "religious" doesn't mean much to God. Having a relationship where you are seeking Him with all your heart...now you have His attention. While it's true that we'll never know the answers to some of the things that happen in this life, it's also true that when you seek God with all your heart and never stop pursuing that relationship, you will be blessed in ways you never imagined.

So where do you start? Begin by filling up with positive, life affirming stuff. Read great books or listen to Christian music. Start reading God's word to see what He says about your life and your situation. Surround yourself with strong, Christian people who can pray with you and hold you up in prayer.

Becky, there is always hope for you and your life. But taking the right steps to get in closer relationship with God are yours to make.

Blessings,

Karen

Answer to your Last Question: WHEN YOU LET GOD TAKE CONTROL of your life
by: Anonymous

My dear Sister Becky

I've never experienced what you've been through and i cannot take away your pain and the hurt that you suffered but i know who can,God can. I serve a living and Mighty God who is merciful and full of love that is who i know. In the mist of all your trials only HE can make a breakthrough. He is near to the brokenhearted and those with crushed spirits, he doesn't ignore the cries of anyone who goes to him for help. He hears the cries and groans of those who suffer and He rises up to rescue them. He will hear you too, go to Him and ask for His forgiveness, he knows we are sinners in need of his forgiveness, grace and mercy. He will give it to you freely and gently as soon as you ask for it. Please read Matthew 11:28-30. We can only give our cares and worries to God because He cares for us, He says so in His Word. God wants us to be closer to him, so that He also can be closer to us (James 4:8)

If you haven't made the God the Lord and Saviour of your life, this is my call to you today to take that decision because Jesus died for you, He came to take your sins away. Say this prayer: Dear Lord, forgive me for all my sins and welcome me into your kingdom today, make me your child in Jesus' Name Amen. After you have said this prayer believe that you are a born-again child of God and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to a church that will minister the truth in God's Word in your life. Now May God's peace which exceeds all understanding be made available to you at all times and in every situation. We are praying for you. God bless you
